a passion for creativity

N e w s
June 3, 2009 - Luckham Creative launched a new Web site today for Inclusive Cities. This is the project I've been working on for WIEGO in the U.K. The site will be getting a lot of visitors from all over the world and is in three different languages, English, Spanish and Portuguese. Luckham Creative did the branding and web design as well as a lot of supporting print collateral. I'll be posting samples of some of the work I've been doing for this project to my portfolio soon, meanwhile feel free to take a look at the site: www.inclusivecities.org.

March 7, 2009 - Coming soon... both my daughter Caitlin and I will have a number of our photographs (www.aviewfromhere.com) published in a book available in local book stores next month. I will post again as soon as I have details as to where and when the book will be available. If this goes well, it will be the first of many!

February 5, 2009 - Well, with all the work I've been doing it came time to upgrade my computer equipment once again. First was a new flat screen monitor to save on desk space, I picked up an LG Flatron, it’s amazing how they have come down in price and the quality is getting better and better. I still have my CRT hooked up though, for doing reliable colour calibration when I need to. I also bought the new white MacBook, with the Advanced NVIDIA graphics card, one of Apple’s newest laptops, it’s so nice to be portable again. My old laptop, while still functional, took a fall from about 10 feet a few years back and is no longer “portable”. My new contracts are needing me to get out of the office more and I will be doing some travelling as well, so the laptop was a real necessity!

January 19, 2009 - I love working with other creative people, so when I get the chance to do work for artists, photographers, etc. it's a wonderful opportunity I just can't resist. I was contacted late last year by Darlene Gait of One Moon Gallery, a First Nations Native artist on Vancouver Island, who found me as a result of the web site I did for Robert Bateman on Salt Spring Island. Darlene has contracted me to redesign her web site and also create an on-line shopping cart. We've just got started on the site, it will be quite a big project but very exciting too as she is an incredible artist and poet! As soon as it goes public I will post a link.

I've been very busy with other projects as well, including two banners, a 50 page conference report in English and Spanish (with a Portuguese one still to come) for WIEGO in the U.S., another two web sites updated, getting started on the branding for Inclusive Cities, the project for WIEGO in the U.K. and a few other bits and pieces.

January 7 - Just before Christmas I unwittingly added to my photography equipment again with the purchase of lighting for portrait work. Over Christmas I put it to the test and did some self-portraits, and portraits for friends and family with some really nice results, I'll have to put some more time into this, but I look forward to doing so.

December 1, 2008 - I've been doing a lot of work over the past few years for Non-Profit Organizations and I am very proud to add to that list again! I've been doing work for WIEGO: Women in Informal Employment Globalizing and Organizing out of Harvard University in the U.S. for a couple of years and they recently asked if I'd be interested in working on a new project they have that is being run out of their U.K. office. (Expanded WIEGO) The project is called Inclusive Cities and is working to improve the livelihoods and living conditions of the working poor. This is a five year project and I will be doing the branding and web site, in addition to a variety of publications, and other print collateral. I'll post more on this as it comes to fruition.

To love what you do and feel that it matters – how could anything be more fun?

October 31, 2008 - With the intent of providing more in photographic services to clients, I have upgraded my photography equipment to include a new Pro Level Digital SLR. I purchased the new Pentax K20D, a 14.6 megapixel camera with the latest in noise reduction technology. So far I am very happy with the purchase and am having a lot of fun with the camera as time permits. As I get familiar with the camera I will post some new photos to my portfolio on this site as well as A View from Here.

June 16, 2008 - Almost done, the News page (this one) has been updated as you can see and above you can see I have a link to my blog, a passion for creativity, which for the most part has been transfered over from my old company blog but with a new nameplate and a couple of new posts, with more new posts to come.

June 9, 2008 - It’s been a busy weekend, a lot of changes and updates to the web site, most importantly the Portfolio is finally up and working. I still have to add some of my recent work and fill out each section a bit and I have an Archives section where I'll be posting some of my older work that I am quite proud of. I also added a page to explain what the symbol you see throughout this site is all about, the Vesica Piscis. By the end of this coming weekend I hope to have everything done, at which time I'll have something special to share with everyone.

May 4, 2008 - More new pages posted to the site, and bits and pieces being dragged over from the old site as you can see.

April 18, 2008 - The first web page for Luckham Creative has been posted. Four months delay! It was bad enough going through a broken collar bone over Christmas, but to top it off this Easter I came down with Kidney Stones. It's been a long and painful ordeal, but things are getting back on track. And yeah, April 18th, it's my birthday!

February 21, 2008 - Back in December of last year I started discussions with ctc Train Canada about doing some contract training for them. After a great deal of patience on their part, after breaking my collar bone and not being available, today I taught my first class for them... ctc Train Canada has a great campus here in Ottawa, lots of classrooms of varying sizes. They go out of their way to create a great atmosphere for students... bagels, muffins and coffee in the morning, and get this... home baked cookies made on the premises at 2 p.m. every day! Click on the logo if you're interested in looking at their course offerings.

February 12, 2008 - Still not quite up to speed, but after a number of different ideas and variations over the past 2, 3 months the new logo for Luckham Creative is finally done.

January 18, 2008
- After a long delay, due to breaking my collar bone back in December, the new company name, Luckham Creative has finally been registered as a Sole Proprietorship in the Province of Ontario.
