Caitlin and I were very proud to be asked to be the Official Photographers for the 20th Annual “For the Kids” Charitable Auction at Shaw Centre on April 20th.
A generous crowd of 450 families, supporters and business sponsors raised over $130,000 dollars for the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Roger Greenberg, (OSEG) Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group‘s chairman, was the honorary chair for the evening. Mayor Jim Watson and CHEO president and CEO Alex Munter also took to the podium. Two parents, Kelli Tonner and Justin Ferrabee, shared their stories of how OCTC has helped their families, and some of the other OCTC families were in attendance as well.
Carleton Place visual artist Sarah Moffat donated her giant Canadian Flag mixed media piece of art called ‘Strong and Free’ from her Shiny Flag Project, to celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial year, to the live auction. Ottawa lawyer and charity auctioneer Lawrence Greenspan conducted the auction. The flag was won for $8000 by Mark Goudie, chief operating officer and CFO for OSEG after a rather exciting bidding war with Jean François Sabourin, owner of the environmental consulting firm J.F. Sabourin and Associates, and his wife, Kathy Kitagawa. You’ll be seeing this piece of art at Lansdowne Park stadium during Canada’s 150th anniversary and during the 2017 Grey Cup in November!
Caitlin and I also donated a Deluxe Edition copy of our book ‘Father Daughter Perspective’ and a special Limited Edition Print to the silent auction. All photos are taken by Caitlin and I, and I’ve watermarked them all so you can tell who shot what. I hope you enjoy them.
