What if… you grew up like your Dad!

What if Weekends: 52 Weeks Project 11/52

This was almost “What if… there were no Photo Illusion!”. I’ve just been way too busy this week/weekend to shoot anything.

Then, this morning I was thinking about it being Father’s Day tomorrow. My Dad passed away over 6 years ago and I still miss him. I wonder if, while he was alive, if he saw himself in his kids? I wonder if he knew how we would grow up, if… like looking in to a crystal ball, he saw us as Dad’s… just like him! I like to think that I have grown up a lot like him.

My Dad instilled a love of music in me, he was always playing clarinet, harmonica or guitar. If there were no instrument, he would turn on the radio, play records or whistle! I recall sometimes, I’d see him sitting in his lazy boy (it was avocado green and very old), there would be no music playing, yet he’d be tapping his foot. My Mum would ask him if he had a nervous twitch! LOL! I love music too, I love hearing it, being around it and I even find that I hear music when there’s none around. My Dad was self-employed most of his life, and he loved to travel pretty much anywhere, and he was good at making ordinary things – special, three traits that are very strong in me. My Dad loved his kids… and I love my daughter! I know he was proud of me, and I’d like to think that he still is. Happy Father’s Day Dad!

This isn’t much of a photo illusion… but I couldn’t not post anything! It does look in to the past and the future though… the main photo is one I shot in 2009 at Laurier House, so the photo on the piano of my Dad and my brothers, is looking in to the past, the mid 60’s. The crystal ball belonged to Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada (1921-1926; 1926-1930; and 1935-1948). So theoretically, the crystal ball is seeing in to the future to when Caitlin and I went to New York City earlier this year.

This is my What if Weekend Photo Illusion for week 11 of my 52 Weeks Project!
This is dedicated to my Dad, who I miss very much, and to my daughter Caitlin Luckham for all that you are.

This 52 Week Project is part of a new endeavour of mine I call Photo Illusionism, one photo illusion every week for 52 weeks, check out the web site and “Like” my page on Facebook. And remember, if you want one of your own photo illusions, send me a message and let’s talk… I have 41 more to do!
